Alphabet recognition is the focus in this fascinating video offering for preschoolers. Pocket Snails Letter Adventure takes children on an animated adventure with a little boy’s pocket friends—colorful snails that roll across the television screen, encountering letters of the alphabet. 

Uppercase letters are found along the countryside, and the charming little snails hop on, bump into, and hide behind each letter. Letters are named as they appear on the screen, and sets of letters (such as g, h, i, j, k, and l) are recapped along the way. The snails occasionally refer to a map that shows the progression of the alphabet for added reinforcement of alphabetic order. The second half of the video is exactly the same as the first, except that lowercase letters are featured.

The animation in this video/DVD is very simple, yet fascinating for young viewers. The video is repetitive, even with its occasional humorous breaks. As such, it is best used as a learning tool for young preschoolers who enjoy simple, low-key videos. Letter sounds are not introduced into the mix, allowing very young children the opportunity to concentrate on the video's focused learning content. This uncomplicated approach makes Pocket Snails Letter Adventure highly appropriate for reinforcing alphabet recognition for children approximately 2-4 years. Recommended!
