Pick The best program to help toddlers
master the mouse is fittingly hosted by a mouse – Reader
Rabbit’s sidekick Mat the Mouse. Here, she welcomes children to
a delightful world where shapes morph into colorful, familiar
objects in the sky and break into song, a trail of colors follows
swipes of the mouse on virtual coloring pages, and adorable
cartoon baby animals look for their parents. Reader Rabbit
performs fingerplays to familiar songs, an alphabet train sports
big pudgy letters of the alphabet, and a bed of flowers play like
musical instruments.
Children need not point and click with the
mouse, though if they’ve learned how, the program will respond
accordingly. Instead, children roll their mouse over hotspots in
order to activate them. This CD-ROM makes for a delightful
introduction to the computer and the mouse, and for children who
are still frustrated by mouse usage, a keyboard option allows
children to play along by randomly tapping keys on the keyboard.
The
2002 version includes a bonus CD-ROM, Reader Rabbit's Dreamship
Tales, which offers printable activities, sing-along songs,
and bonus activities.
