Based on the best-selling books by David Kirk, Miss Spider's
Sunny Patch Friends debuts on DVD and video with the release of
All Pupa'ed Out and A Cloudy Day in Sunny Patch. Both
DVDs feature eight stories, and the VHS editions contain four
stories from the television series.

A Cloudy Day in Sunny Patch features the title episode in
which Miss Spider's adopted beetle daughter, Shimmer, is having a
birthday party. A rainy, cloudy day worries Shimmer, but the indoor
party turns out to be special anyhow. In another episode, Shimmer
wants to learn how to play the bagpipes, and she finds out just how
much practice and commitment is required to do so. Squirt is down in
another episode because he believes he wished a star right out of
the sky.
The CGI animated series is richly colorful--children are
mesmerized. But it's more than just good looks. The stories are
entertaining and responsible, approaching topics that both engage
children's interest and exercise their creative thinking skills.
The DVD edition features twice the number of episodes as well as
two interactive games. One involves guessing the "mystery bug" along
with Detective Stinky, the stink bug. Running time is 88 minutes on
DVD and 44 minutes on VHS.
